How to Play Blackjack
Minimum and maximum bets, along with maximum payouts, are displayed at each table.
Blackjack is a popular and exciting casino game where players compete against the dealer. Players place their wagers on designated betting spots on the table. Once all bets are placed, the dealer deals two cards face-up to each player and two cards to themselves—one face-up and one face-down. The goal is to have a hand value equal to or closer to 21 than the dealer’s without going over (busting).
All tens, Jacks, Queens, and Kings are worth ten points. Aces can count as either one or eleven, while all other cards are valued at their face value. If your first two cards are an Ace and any ten-value card (10, Jack, Queen, King), you have a “Blackjack,” which pays out according to the layout odds (either 3 to 2 or 6 to 5).
If the dealer also has Blackjack, the hand is a push, meaning no one wins and the player’s bet is returned. If your initial two cards total less than 21, you may draw additional cards to try and reach 21 without busting. Once satisfied with your hand, signal to “stand” and wait for the dealer’s turn.
The dealer must follow specific rules. If the table states “Dealer Must Hit Soft 17,” the dealer will hit when holding a soft 17 (a hand containing an Ace counted as 11, totaling 17). If the table says “Dealer Must Stand on 17,” the dealer will stand on all 17s or higher.
If your hand beats the dealer’s without busting, you win. You also win if the dealer busts and you do not.
Doubling down means that after receiving your first two cards, if you believe one more card will help you win, you can double your original bet by placing an additional wager beside it. You will then receive only one more card.
Splitting pairs is an option if your first two cards have the same value. You can split them into two separate hands, placing an equal wager on the new hand. You may continue splitting up to four hands total, except for Aces, which can be split only once and receive one additional card each. Doubling down is allowed on split hands except when splitting Aces.
Insurance is offered if the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace. You can place an insurance bet up to half your original wager, betting that the dealer’s hole card is a ten-value card, resulting in a dealer Blackjack. Insurance bets pay 2 to 1 if successful.
A push is a tie between player and dealer, resulting in no winner and the return of the player’s bet.
Hand signals are non-verbal cues used to indicate whether you want to “hit” or “stand.” Ask your dealer for guidance on the correct signals.
Regarding side bets, Kings Bounty™ is an optional wager on whether your first two cards total 20, with special payouts for certain pairs or suited cards. Regular Blackjack rules still apply.
Perfect Pairs™ is a simple optional side bet that wins if your first two cards form a pair. There are three types of pairs—Mixed Pair, Colored Pair, and Perfect Pair—with varying payout odds. This bet does not change the regular Blackjack rules.
Double Pairs™ offers three optional side bets—Dealer Pair, Player Pair, and Double Pair—wagering on whether the first two cards of the player, dealer, or both form pairs. Different payout odds apply depending on the type of pairs, while standard Blackjack rules remain unchanged.
